Mobile occupational therapy service Port Macquarie.
Bec Middeldorp operates a mobile occupational therapy service offering individual therapy services within the home, day-care, preschool or school environment across Port Macquarie and surrounds.
As a mobile service, we offer individual therapy services within the home, day-care, preschool or school environment across Port Macquarie and surrounds. This allows for children to be seen in a comfortable and familiar environment, ensuring that skills gained in therapy can more easily be generalised to their everyday routines and tasks as they are in the setting where the skill is most commonly utilised.
Bec will work closely with and will be in regular contact with other professionals involved with your child including Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, teachers and tutors to ensure that there is a whole team approach and to provide strategies that can easily be incorporated into everyday school and home life.
How occupational therapy can help your child.
Your child’s role is to play, learn, be a friend, a student, team member, son, daughter and sibling. Bec’s role as an occupational therapist is to look at what may be getting in the way of your child fulfilling these roles.
As an Occupational Therapist we look at what is getting in the way of them fulfilling this role and teach or strengthen their skills, modify environments and develop strategies to help them to maximise their participation in this role.
For example, their handwriting difficulties may be getting in the way of their role as a student and impacting their confidence and classroom participation. Their ability to regulate their emotions may be getting in the way of them being a friend or sibling or student. Their difficulty with balance and ball skills is getting in the way of them being a member of their local soccer team.
